Described as the 21st Century Slyvia Plath in her 5 star show SECTIONED (neurodiverse reviews, Edinburgh 2023). Poppy returns with a moving piece that combines storytelling and education with poetry and film to bring her audience into life in modern UK mental wards. lt is not a pretty picture. Are all who linger in wards worthy of incarceration or are many just victims of a broken system?

Detained under the mental health act seven times in eight years, Poppy has seen the inside of a system that makes you question what it really is to be insane. Does knowledge of your own fragility make you sane? Do the services really help or are they a hindrance to true recovery? What, if anything, can be done to help?

Poppy speaks with an openness and honesty rarely seen as she describes her own journey from gifted child, through aerospace engineer and model, to disaster, psychosis, and despair combined throughout with determination to make the world a better place...

Running time: 60min

Suitable for Age 16+

Warnings: Talk of suicidol thoughts, depression, psychosis, metal health. Potential talk of drug and alcohol use (TBD)
